Today’s issue of Nature features the article “Planetary Boundaries: Exploring the safe operating space for humanity” by Johan Rockström, Will Steffen, Kevin Noone, Hans Joachim Schellnhuber and a range of prominent global environmental change scholars. One key argument in this article that should be of interest to the Earth System Governance community, is the assumption that Earth needs to stay within what the authors call the “Holocene stability domain”.
